Real-life war hero Audie Murphy stars as a Western lawman who goes undercover to bust a Colorado ring of outlaws with a novel racket.

The gang breaks a convict out of prison. Uses him with his face uncovered to rob banks. Then when the reward on their prisoner is high enough, kills him and collects the bounty. Detective Gifford (Murphy) fakes his own wanted posters to entice the gang. But the woman he loves believes the wanted posters . . . and the sheriff who is supposed to rescue him from the gang does not appear.
