Straight Outta Compton is a 2015 American biographical drama film directed by F. Gary Gray, depicting the rise and fall of the gangsta rap group N.W.A and its members Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, and DJ Yella. The members of N.W.A were involved in the production of the film, including Ice Cube and Dr. Dre as producers, as was Eazy-E's widow, Tomica Woods-Wright, while MC Ren and DJ Yella served as creative consultants. Ice Cube is played by his real-life son, O'Shea Jackson Jr., with Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre and Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E. Paul Giamatti also stars as N.W.A's manager Jerry Heller.
Talks of an N.W.A biopic began in 2010 by New Line Cinema. Several directors were approached, including Craig Brewer, Peter Berg and John Singleton, before Gray was confirmed in April 2012. Much of the cast signed on in June 2014 and principal photography began that August, taking place around Los Angeles and Compton, California. The production faced several controversies, including casting call issues and several acts of violence on set.
Released on August 14, 2015, Straight Outta Compton made over $201 million on a production budget of $50 million, was chosen by National Board of Review as one of the top ten films of 2015 and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. It inspired Dr. Dre's third studio album, Compton, which debuted at no. 2 on the US Billboard 200 album chart a week prior to the film's release. The soundtrack album, featuring music by N.W.A, debuted at no. 1 on the Rap Albums chart and reached no. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Heller filed a lawsuit against the filmmakers, protesting his depiction and claiming that parts were taken from his autobiography without permission.
Straight Outta Compton was filmed in Compton, California and Los Angeles, California. Principal photography began on location in Compton on August 5, 2014. In early September 2014, principal exterior shooting on a large post-riot set was observed on Laurel Canyon Boulevard in North Hollywood.While shooting in California, the production spent $50 million in the state and received the California Film & Television Tax Credit.
Going on a location tour of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic “Vertigo”, places all found in San Francisco and San Juan Bautista.
The locations highlighted on this tour are:
1) The BROCKLEBANK APARTMENTS on the corner of Mason and Sacramento streets. It’s the location of the Elsters residence, where Scottie (James Stewart) begins to trail Madelene Elster (Kim Novak).
2) Scottie trails Madeleine down California Street, skips ahead to Bush and Grant, they turn past Tillman Place towards the flower shop.
3) CLAUDE LANE, supposedly beside the flower shop but actually one block northeast, where Madeleine parks her car.
4) The former location of the PODESTA BALDOCCHI flower shop at 224 Grant street.
5) The LEGION OF HONOR, a fine arts museum where Scottie watches Madeleine obsessively contemplate the painting of Carlotta Valdes.
6) FORT POINT, an old 19th-century fortification at the base of the Golden Gate bridge, where Madeleine (apparently) attempts suicide by throwing herself into San Francisco bay.
7) Back to the Brocklebank Apartments as Scottie trails Madeleine:
a) Right (west) on California St.
b) Right (north) on Cushman St.
c) Left (west) on Sacramento St.
d) Right (south) on Taylor St.
e) Right (east) on Clay St.
f) Left on (north) on Mason St.
g) Right (east) on Washington St.
h) Left (north) on Powell St.
Skips ahead to:
i) Filbert and Leavenworth streets, turns left (north) on Leavenworth
j) Right (east) on Lombard Street
8) Scottie’s home at 900 Lombard St., one block south of "the crookedest street in the world”.
9) HOTEL VERTIGO at 940 Sutter Street (named after the movie) seen as the “Empire Hotel”, Judy’s residence.
10) MISSION SAN JUAN BAUTISTA, an old Spanish mission about 100 miles south of San Francisco, site of the infamous “bell tower” where Madeleine/Judy meets her ultimate demise.

Outlander Filming Locations in Scotland: Part 1. This video features the top Outlander Filming Locations in Scotland. My wife and I are big fans of the show and decided to make the trek to Scotland to visit my wife's best friend that lives in Edinburgh. We also checked out our favorite Outlander Filming Locations.
We did a bit of research online before going to map out our trip. The order these locations appear in the video don't match the order in which we visited them. You need to map out your trip to best match your itinerary. We just spent about 5 days in Scotland during this visit which was plenty of time to see all of these sites.

Locations for THE CROW have always been difficult to nail down. You can really only find information about the fact that they filmed at Carolco Studios (now EUE/Screen Gems) and the abandoned Ideal Cement Factory. There was no way a film studio was going to let me on the lot to make a video and I knew the factory would be hard to access. Luckily, I got SOMETHING out of it. After we got home, I read a book about the making of THE CROW which revealed a few more practical locations, so I pieced together what I could for this video. Not our typical style when it comes to locations videos, but I hope you will find out something you didn't know!

We are on the Northside of Chicago in Des Plaines checking out filming locations of the John Hughes 80s classic The Breakfast Club, which was primarily filmed in one location - a former high school (Maine North High School) that now houses the Illinois State Police headquarters. We also visit the real life Shermer High School, which was John Hughes actual high school and a filming location in Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, IL. The Breakfast Club was released in February 15th, 1985, making it 36 years old!

In this video I cover two locations used in the movie directed by Clint Eastwood, located in Mono Lake California. This is a location that using Pure Imagination is highly useful. ;)
Clint Eastwood scouted the locations himself while driving a pickup truck through Oregon, Nevada and California. He chose the shores of Mono Lake because he considered the area highly photogenic. Additional scenes were filmed at Reno, Nevada's Winnemucca Lake and California's Inyo National Forest.

The city of Los Angeles is the game board as five teams of college students attempt to win "The Great All-Nighter", a dusk-to-dawn competition dreamed up by an eccentric graduate student. David Naughton and Stephen Furst are paired with a grab-bag group of fellow students including Michael J. Fox in his first film appearance.The film was directed and written by Michael Nankin and David Wechter.

Did you know that they actually used three different locations in London for The Leaky Cauldron. One is in Borough Market in The Prisoner of Azkaban, one is in Charing Cross Road and the first one used in The Philosophers Stone (The Sorcerors Stone) is in Leadenhall Market.
The divination stairway where Hermione wknocks the crystal ball down is in St Paul's Cathedral and we also go past the Millenium Bridge which the death eaters destroyed in Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince. From London Bridge you get a good view of the route that HArry , Hermione and Ron Weasley took as they fly towards Grimauld Place on their brook sticks.
Joolz apparates to Piccadilly Circus just like in the Deathly Hallows and also nearly goes under a bus! We also visit the location where they filmed Platform 9 and 3 quarters which is in Kings Cross Station which is conveniently near the Harry Potter shop where you can buy school uniforms of Gryffindor or Slitherin and the other houses before you head off on a magical walking tour with Joolz towards Diagon Alley and the ministry of magic in Whitehall.

So after close to three decades of film location hunting I was finally convinced to make the pilgrimage out to Morristown, Tennessee to visit the original Sam Raimi classic, The Evil Dead. Super fan & Evil Dead expert Travis Mangold joins me on my adventure and I have to admit this was one of the coolest locations I have ever visited.
