Tucked quietly into the rolling hills of the Great Smoky Mountains sits a home that time seems to have forgotten. Built in the late 1960s and left untouched since the passing of its owner over a decade ago, this ranch-style home stands as a perfectly preserved snapshot of another era. From the outside, the house blends naturally into its surroundings. The exterior’s long, single-story ranch design, stone façade, and covered carport; complimented by the interior wood paneling, speak of the practical architectural elements of the lost time period.
The last owners were an older couple, who had married in the 1950s and began their new life together in an era defined by optimism and eventual broken post-war promises. The husband, a United States Air Force veteran and college graduate, carried his years of military service with him as he slowly transitioned into normal civilian life, eventually leading to him and his wife settling here at this house, perched on a hill overlooking the Great Smoky Mountains. Together, they raised two children within these same walls who likely played across the mustard-yellow carpet, gathered around the kitchen table for dinner, and grew up beneath the warm glow of the various wood-paneled rooms.
As the years passed, the two children became adults and would leave the confines of their family home to start their own lives. Unfortunately, the husband passed away in the late 1980s, leaving behind the beloved home that he and his wife had built together. His wife remained in the house, surrounded by the decades of cherished memories of their marriage, their children’s childhoods, and the quiet routines of everyday life. Sadly, she also would pass away in the 2010s and shockingly, the house was left the exact same way, just as it was on the day she died, over a decade ago.
There are no signs of renovation, no modern updates layered over its original character, and no evidence of anyone coming and going. Even the vehicles under the carport still sit parked in the same spot they did some 10 years prior.
The modest and once magnificent house stands today, a literal personal museum of one family’s entire life. In a world where homes are constantly changed, remodeled and reimagined, this one continues to remain untouched, a real-deal time capsule hidden among the rolling foothills of the Great Smoky Mountain.

This mansion sits completely abandoned in what most people would call the middle of nowhere,

It was owned by a successful cattleman who built a great reputation in the ranching over the course of decades that he was one of the most respected in the industry. He built his name up and served on major boards and even won his family the award of Farm family of the year.

But in 2017 he unfortunately passed away, leaving the future of his farm with uncertainty.
Because he was the glue that held it all together and without him the farm couldn’t carry on. Over time his wife stayed in the home only to pass away a few years later and that’s when this place completely changed forever.

Up a long driveway on a small road in the northern United States is an abandoned house unlike anything I have ever seen before. An RV and a Ford Escape sit rotting in the driveway, and in the garage, a Lincoln and a Porsche 911 Turbo sit in the dark. Inside the house, it is another world; it looks like it's waiting for its owners to come home. But there is one problem. The mold. This was the home of a school teacher who loved her students, and her husband, a software engineer who spent their lives inside the home, eventually being able to retire and enjoy the simple things in life together. As a retirement present for each other, they bought a winter home in Florida, which became a long-lasting tradition to spend the colder months there. One winter, they packed up like they always did, their two dogs in the backseat, and drove south, planning to return when the cold let up. But they never did. I am unsure why, and it is honestly quite a mystery; maybe they passed away there, or simply decided not to return. But even then, why leave everything behind? The passports on the counter, Jewelry, and Rolexes still on the dresser, family photos on the wall made this a surreal sight. And in their absence, burst pipes and moisture have allowed black mold to spread inside the house at a shocking pace - the worst I have ever seen. So, come with me as we venture inside to see everything that's left, and maybe even uncover what happened.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE COMMENTING.

I try to reply often, but "I don't get step X" or "it doesn't work" is too unspecific and I can't help unless I know exactly what problem you have.

*COMMON FIRST LAYER PROBLEMS*
Step 1 & 2. If the side colors of the cross or first layer don't line up the way I showed it in the video, then you need to redo it. Pay attention to ALL of the colors on one piece, and don't just pick white pieces randomly. I talk about this in the video, how I'm trying to match the other colors of the white piece (like white/orange etc.)

*TAKING PIECES OUT OF THE SECOND LAYER*
Step 3. At 5:33 I say "you should already know how to do this". I admit this is unclear. You should insert a random yellow edge into the second layer using the same algorithm you use for solving the second layer. If this does not make sense, watch the example solve video linked at the bottom of this comment.

*COMMON TOP LAYER PROBLEMS*
Step 4. If you can only get 1 or 3 edge pieces of the top cross, you need to reassemble the cube as solved.
Step 5. There should be no problems here.
Step 6. If you ever get only 2 corners in the correct location, you need to reassemble the cube as solved.
Step 7. Finish the 4 moves (don't stop at 3) every time. Turn the bottom (don't rotate the whole cube) to get the next piece. If it STILL does not work, you need to reassemble the cube as solved.

"Why do I need to reassemble the cube?"
Randomly assembling the cube only has a 1/12 chance of being solvable. If you've ever taken the cube apart or twisted corner pieces, then that can be the problem. If stickers have been switched, you will have to switch them back.

Paramount Pictures had planned a television series based on the first film. Murphy turned down the series but was willing to do a sequel. Producers Simpson and Bruckheimer hired Tony Scott to direct due to his success with the 1986 blockbuster film Top Gun. The film was originally to be set and filmed in London and Paris; however, the script was re-written after Murphy expressed a reluctance to film outside the United States.

Eddie Murphy's salary to star in the movie was $8 million.The budget of the movie was $27 million. Ronny Cox was going to have more screen time in the film, but couldn't due to his role in Robocop. Filming began on November 10, 1986, and concluded on March 25, 1987, after 135 days of filming

Cycling in Dubai has always been popular, but now that UAE Team Emirates have taken victory in the prestigious Tour de France, the sport could be about to reach fever pitch.



If you are a regular rider, just getting started or want to ride more, cycling at the Nad Al Sheba Cycle Loop in Dubai is where you want to go, in my opinion.



In the shadows of the Burj Khalifa, and the skyline of Downtown Dubai in view for pretty much the entire loop you may well find yourself able to push yourself just a little harder.


The Nad Al Sheba Cycle Loop is an inspiring location.


Before we get into the nitty gritty of how exactly you cycle the Nad Al Sheba Cycle Loop, it would be remiss of me not to whole-heartedly congratulate UAE Team Emirates on their Tour de France victory this week.



Slovenia’s Tadej Pogacar is the rider to have achieved the feet, becoming the second youngest Tour de France champion in history at the age of 21.




I suspect you’ll be seeing a lot of him around Dubai in the coming weeks. His image has already been lit up on the Burj Khalifa, and rightly so.




The Nad Al Sheba Cycle Loop is a converted camel track. It consists of three loops of varying distances from 4km to 8km and has everything you need for a brilliant ride.


The main loop weaves through some areas of the Meydan One construction site, but the stunning vistas towards Downtown Dubai will be all you need to take your mind away from construction in the foreground.


It’s not construction all the way around however, most areas of the track are landscaped with trees, hedges, lawns and nicely appointed rest points with benches to be found at various intervals so you can take a breather.


For the most part the track is flat, with just a couple of underpasses to go through with a small decline and incline and the track itself is mostly smooth with just a few areas where you’ll want to keep both hands on the handlebars!


There are well marked out signs with emergency contact numbers on them all the way around the route which is reassuring incase you have an accident.




For those early risers who want to set off before sunrise, or if you fancy an evening cycle when the sun has gone you are in luck. The loop is well floodlit and with lights on your bike, you’ll be good to go.


Facilities wise, you’ve got everything you need. A good sized car park, a café, bike hire, changing facilities and the perfect location for the start and end of your cycle.

For some extra motivation, as you start to become a little out of breath, all you’ll need to do is look up at the Burj Khalifa, the main focus within the 2011 Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol movie starting Tom Cruise and remember a cycle is nothing compared to what Cruise did on the side of the tower!


And even though the Burj Khalifa is a bit of an obvious Hollywood movie shout out, don’t forget the Meydan bridge that you’ll also pass on the loop.


The bridge is another feature in the Mission Impossible film. It was the location used for the end of the car chase when the sandstorm clears.


My tip, set off on a sunrise cycle, there is no better sight than seeing the sunlight catch the tower and work its way up as the sun rises.

There isn’t much shade to be found on the track
Always keep to the right so that people can overtake on the left


How to get to the Nad Al Sheba Cycle Loop:

From the E44 turn onto Meydan Road/D69 heading east.
At the roundabout take the second exit continuing on Meydan Rod/D69.
At the next roundabout take the first exit, it will be signposted ‘private access’ but continue.
At the next roundabout come back on yourself
.
Take the first right at the signpost marked ‘cycle parking’.



Covid-19 :
Face masks must be worn in all public areas.
Once you are cycling face masks can be removed whilst exercising.
