Some of these movies were banned outright.
Others were refused ratings, X-rated, censored, pulled from theaters, or blocked in certain countries.

In this video, I break down a list of banned movies (or films that were once banned) and explain exactly why each one caused controversy. Some were restricted by governments, some were shut down by ratings boards, and others became impossible to see simply because theaters, broadcasters, or distributors wouldn’t touch them.

We've even got the only X-rated movie ever to win an Academy Award, two of the best fictional films about serial killers, a couple of banned animated movies and easily the most notorious film of the 1990s. These once banned movies are all considered safe to watch now, most of them shining of examples of how edgy sometimes equals art.
