Filming locations of Mamma Mia the movie. The film was mostly shot on the Greek Island of Skopelos, also the neighbouring island of Skiathos, Pinewood Studio, and The Greek Mainland. We did try to film the church seen near the end of the film but the bay was to dangerous to enter by boat. Finally Villa Donna was actually filmed in Pinewood Studio though the outside of it was shot above Gysteri Beach on Skopelos.

This episode was a long time coming. I grew up in Southern California and used to go to Magic Mountain almost every summer since just before the release of KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park. So when I first saw the film the night it debuted on TV I recognized it as Magic Mountain but I didn't know exactly where everything was filmed in the park. I was also thrown off by the stuff shot in the studio that I believed had to be there. I remember driving park employees crazy asking where the Chamber of Thrills was located because I KNEW it was there! I saw it in the movie! I also remember searching for the entrance to Devereaux's lab but couldn't seem to find that either. I hadn't been back to Magic Mountain since 1999 so it was a trip going back to look for these exact spots on top of just getting a flood of nostalgic memories thrown at me. My buddy Scott from SCOTT ON TAPE joins me on me adventure too. We also explore the legend of Black Ace! Enjoy!

For as long as I can remember I have been a fan of the Rocky movies. Growing up with a brother who was a very talented boxer and my father who was a boxing coach – the sport of boxing was always a part of my life growing up.

The rocky movies have inspired me and motivated me through the years through my personal fitness journey, and they have entertained me for many many decades.

When I made a trip to Philadelphia in the Spring of 2024, I set aside time to visit a few key sites from the Rocky movie franchise.

The Rocky House - Philadelphia - 0:47
The Rocky house, located at 1818 Tusculum Street in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, is an iconic symbol of the city’s rich cinematic history. Made famous by Sylvester Stallone’s portrayal of the fictional boxer Rocky Balboa in the “Rocky” film series, the house has become a pilgrimage site for fans of the movies.

The house itself is a modest two-story brick rowhouse typical of the area, standing in stark contrast to the grandeur of other movie landmarks. However, its significance lies in its representation of the underdog spirit that Rocky embodies. Visitors come from all over the world to see the place where Rocky trained and to run up the steps of the nearby Philadelphia Museum of Art, just as he famously did in the films.

Mighty Micks Gym - Philadelphia - 0:32
Mighty Mick’s Gym, another iconic location from the “Rocky” film series, is a fictional boxing gym at 2147 N Front St, Philadelphia where Rocky Balboa trained under the tutelage of his trainer and mentor, Mickey Goldmill. While the gym itself is not a real location, its portrayal in the films has left a lasting impression on fans and has become a symbol of gritty, no-nonsense training.

In the films, Mighty Mick’s Gym is depicted as a run-down, old-school boxing gym, reflecting the tough and gritty nature of the sport. Despite its humble appearance, the gym is where Rocky honed his skills and trained for his legendary fights, embodying the spirit of determination and hard work. The gym has become a symbol of the underdog mentality that Rocky represents, inspiring many to push beyond their limits and pursue their dreams.

The Rocky Statue - 0:01
The Rocky Statue, also known as the Rocky Balboa Statue, is an iconic bronze statue located at the base of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The statue was commissioned for the filming of “Rocky III” in 1980 and was originally intended to be a temporary prop. However, due to its popularity with fans of the “Rocky” film series, the statue was relocated several times before finding its permanent home at the museum.

The statue depicts the fictional boxer Rocky Balboa, played by Sylvester Stallone, in a triumphant pose with his arms raised in victory. The pose is inspired by a scene from the first “Rocky” film, where Rocky runs up the steps of the museum as part of his training regimen. The statue has become a symbol of perseverance and determination, embodying the spirit of the underdog that Rocky represents.

Over the years, the Rocky Statue has become a popular tourist attraction and a symbol of Philadelphia’s spirit and resilience. It has been featured in numerous photographs, films, and television shows, further cementing its place in popular culture. Today, the statue stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the “Rocky” film series and its impact on audiences around the world.

The Rocky Stairs - 0:59
The Rocky Steps, officially known as the “Art Museum Steps,” are a famous set of stairs located in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The steps gained worldwide fame after they were featured in the film “Rocky,” where the titular character, Rocky Balboa, famously ran up them as part of his training regimen. The scene has since become one of the most iconic moments in cinematic history, with visitors from around the world flocking to the museum to recreate the run themselves.

The steps consist of a total of 72 stone steps, which lead up to the museum’s main entrance. At the top of the steps, visitors are treated to a stunning view of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the Philadelphia skyline, making it a popular spot for tourists and locals alike. The steps have become a symbol of perseverance and determination, with many people using them as a personal fitness challenge or as a way to test their own limits.

In addition to their pop culture significance, the Rocky Steps have also become an important part of Philadelphia’s cultural heritage. The steps are a popular spot for events and gatherings, including fitness classes, races, and even marriage proposals. They have been featured in numerous films, television shows, and commercials, further cementing their place in popular culture. Today, the Rocky Steps continue to be a beloved landmark in Philadelphia, attracting visitors from around the world who come to pay homage to one of cinema’s most iconic moments.

'The Great Escape' was a film that I grew up with during my childhood, and to this day remains one of my favourites. Whilst not entirely historically accurate to the real-life escape the movie is based upon, it was (and still is) nonetheless regarded as one of the finest movies of the 1960s. The movie was shot in its entirety in Germany in 1962 at the Bavaria Film Studio in Munich, with location filming in rural Bavaria.

Hailing from a German family, my brother and I love all things to do with the country. And so after having to put it off for 3 years (thanks COVID), we finally flew out of London and landed in Munich in July 2022. Grabbing a hire car, we decided to spend one day venturing around southern Bavaria and went about seeking out some of the locations from the 1963 war blockbuster.

LOCATIONS
00:26 - Sedgewick cycling (Speiden, Bavaria)
00:42 - Hilts rides into town (Pfronten-Weißbach, Bavaria)
00:58 - Hilts rides the backstreets (Pfronten-Weißbach, Bavaria)
01:12 - Hilts takes cover behind a barn (Zell, Bavaria) *
01:26 - Cavendish hitches a lift in the truck (Speiden, Bavaria)
01:40 - Cavendish is caught by soldiers (Speiden, Bavaria)
01:54 - Hilts approaches the Swiss border (Pfronten, Bavaria)
02:10 - Hendley and Blythe fly though mountains (Neuschwanstein, Bavaria)
02:20 - Blythe crawls up the hill (Frauenried, Bavaria)
02:41 - German soldiers approach Blythe (Frauenried, Bavaria)
02:51 - French resistance car approaches cafe (Füssen, Bavaria)
03:03 - Bartlett runs across the rooftops (Füssen, Bavaria)
03:12 - Barlett is approached by a German patrol car (Füssen, Bavaria)
03:26 - Barlett takes a moment of reprieve (Füssen, Bavaria)
03:36 - Hilts jumps the barbed wire (Roßmoos, Bavaria)

* As mentioned in the video, the corner we filmed on is the opposite side the one McQueen was filmed on, as unfortunately there were maintenance vehicles in the way (they were working on a nearby pylon), however the barn is the same one in the film, still standing 60 years on.

I speak both English and German, please feel free to comment in either language.
Ich spreche sowohl Englisch als auch Deutsch. Bitte kommentieren.

We are in Venice Italy and checking out famouse flming locations. So many movie locations because the drama of the floating city of Venice has called the silver screen forever. There are so many to choose from. So many beautiful sweeping views of the city built on over 100 Islands and it makes a great location for an action packed boat chase. We narrowed the big list to our top 3 Venice Italy filming locations

3. Three on our list of Venice Italy movie locations is Spider-man Far From Home. In Spider-man Far Frowm Home. Tom Holland AKA Peter Parker is in Europe with his classmates and finds he has to fight a water monster. The giant Hydro monster or water element monster ultimatly ends up destroying Venice Italy's oldest and most beautiful bridge that spans the Grand Canal, The Rialto Bridge. The Rialto Bridge makes for an incredible filming location and shows up in so many movies filmed here in Venice Italy, but Spider-Man Far From Home really uses the Rialto Bridge as the main part of the scene.

2. Now this list had to have a James Bond movie in it. 007 super spy has been to all corners of the globe but ends up in Venice quite a lot. I can't think of a better location for romance and intrige than Venice. 3 James Bond Films have been shot her.....From Russia with Love, Moonraker, and our personal favorite Casino Royal. So we had to find the Sinking House from the climax of Casino Royal. No good news, the beautiful pilatzo did not really sink. It was all done with CGI movie magic. You can visit the row of buildings on the Grand Cannal that the house sank. The exact spot is a little red house. Now farther down the canal is the Palazzo Pisani Moretta also on the canal. This was the inspiration for the model built on a soundstage and then sunk. The two villas were combined to make the famous sinking house in James Bond's Casino Royal.

Now or honorable mention is The Tourist with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. This didn't make the list because it wasn't that great of a movie. That being said, I will watch it every time its on because it so darn beautiful. This film also includes the Palazzo Pisani Moretta. When Jolie and Depp arrive Venice Italy they are suppose to be staying at the Hotel Denali, but Hotel Denali is located near St Marks Square. You see our two leeds motor down the Grand Canal and parking by a hotel with signs that say Hotel Denali but it is really the Palazzo Pisani Moreeta. The interior of the Hotel Denali is briefly used at check in.

1. Our top spot had to go to one of this family's favorite movie franchises....Indiana Jones and more specificly Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Its here where Indiana Jones goes to a Venice Italy libray and finds clues that leads him down to the catacombs where while finding more clues he is flushed out by the bad guys and it creates a memorable and funny scene where he and his leading lady escape the catacombs threw a manhole where fany tourists are lunching and Harrison Ford says AH, Venice! Well, the library is actually a church. Chiesa di San Barnaba is the exterior of the filming location and it is located in Campo San Barnaba.

In early June of 2024 I was finally able to fulfill a dream of mine I’ve had since early childhood…..to visit all the places where they filmed my favorite movie of all time…JAWS. Visiting Martha’s Vineyard and standing in the same spots where all this cinematic history was created was something I will never, ever forget. Memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life. It may be Martha’s Vineyard to the folks who live here, but to me….this is Amity Island. Get ready to see a few things you may have never seen before! I had the pleasure of meeting Richard Dreyfuss in October of 2023 and I told him I was going to Martha’s Vineyard in a few months to retrace his steps. He told me “there’s a lot of magic out there….and I’ve experienced a lot of it.”
After finally being there myself, I can personally attest to that. Magic indeed. Join me on my adventure to Amity Island!

"Billie Jean" is a song by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson, released by Epic Records on January 3, 1983, as the second single from his sixth studio album, Thriller (1982). It was written and composed by Jackson and produced by Quincy Jones and co-produced by Jackson. "Billie Jean" blends post-disco, R&B, funk, and dance-pop. The lyrics describe a woman, Billie Jean, who claims that the narrator is the father of her newborn son, which he denies. Jackson said the lyrics were based on groupies' claims about his older brothers when he toured with them as the Jackson 5.

"Billie Jean" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, topped the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart within three weeks, and became Jackson's fastest-rising number one single since "ABC", "The Love You Save" and "I'll Be There" in 1970, all of which he recorded as a member of the Jackson 5. It was also a number one hit in the UK, Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Switzerland and Belgium, and reached the top ten in many other countries. "Billie Jean" was one of the best-selling singles of 1983, helping Thriller become the best-selling album of all time, and became Jackson's best-selling solo single. "Billie Jean" is certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and is one of the best-selling singles of all-time.

Jackson's performance of "Billie Jean" on the TV special Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever won universal acclaim and was nominated for an Emmy Award. It introduced a number of Jackson's signatures, including the moonwalk, black sequined jacket, and high-water pants, and was widely imitated. The "Billie Jean" music video, directed by Steve Barron, was the first video by a black artist to be aired in heavy rotation on MTV. Along with the other videos produced for Thriller, it helped establish MTV's cultural importance and make music videos an integral part of popular music marketing. The spare, bass-driven arrangement of "Billie Jean" helped pioneer what one critic called "sleek, post-soul pop music". It also introduced a more paranoid lyrical style for Jackson, a trademark of his later music.

"Billie Jean" was awarded honors including two Grammy Awards and an American Music Award. Billboard ranked it as the No. 2 song for 1983.

MTV initially refused to air the video for "Billie Jean", as the network's executives felt black music did not fit into its "rock"-centered programming at the time. Enraged by their refusal despite Jackson's success as a musical artist, Walter Yetnikoff, the president of Jackson's record company CBS Records, threatened to expose MTV's stance on racial discrimination: "I said to MTV, 'I'm pulling everything we have off the air, all our product. I'm not going to give you any more videos. And I'm going to go public and fucking tell them about the fact you don't want to play music by a black guy.'" MTV relented and premiered the "Billie Jean" music video on March 10, 1983. After the video was aired in heavy rotation, Thriller went on to sell an additional 10 million copies. It was one of the first videos by a black artist to be aired regularly by the channel.

Directed by Steve Barron and produced by Gowers Fields Flattery, the video shows a photographer who follows but never catches Jackson, as when photographed Jackson fails to materialize on the developed picture. Jackson dances to Billie Jean's hotel room and as he walks along a sidewalk, each tile lights up at his touch. After performing a quick spin, he jumps and lands, freeze framed, on his toes. Upon arrival at the hotel, he climbs the staircase to Billie Jean's room, lighting up each step as he touches it and illuminating a burnt-out "Hotel" sign as he passes it. The paparazzo then arrives at the scene and watches as Jackson vanishes under the covers of Billie Jean's bed, before the police arrive and arrest him for spying on Billie Jean. As the paparazzo is led away, he drops a tiger-print cloth that Jackson had left behind after polishing his shoe with it earlier in the video. (On both occasions, the cloth briefly transforms into a tiger cub.) Once the street is empty, the paving tiles again light up in sequence, reversing Jackson's earlier progress.

Jackson's new look for the video, a black leather suit with a pink shirt and a red bow tie, was copied by children around the US.

A Night at the Roxbury is a 1998 American comedy film based on a recurring sketch on television's long-running Saturday Night Live called "The Roxbury Guys". Saturday Night Live regulars Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, Molly Shannon, Mark McKinney and Colin Quinn star. This film expands on the original Saturday Night Live sketches where the Roxbury Guys were joined by that week's host, and bobbed their heads to Haddaway's hit song "What Is Love" while being comically rejected by women at various clubs.

The ORIGINAL Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie EXPLODED onto the screen in 1990 and for us 80's/90s kids, it was one of, if not THE Greatest movie of ALL TIME! Turtle Power was all the rage as these original Heroes in a Half Shell came to life via the Jim Henson creature shop!

Now I had known the movie was filmed primarily in North Carolina on massive New York backlot sets, but while wandering in the city last year I found out to my surprise and pleasure that the original NINJA TURTLES DID do some filming in the Big Apple! 🍎

Just enough to spend a day hunting down as many TMNT I locations as we can, and a few BONUS locations from Part II; SECRET OF THE OOZE!

We should note there are a few more establishing shots and some shots of the Foot Lair supposedly on Roosevelt Island, we didn't have time to track down. But we did discover some places that at least at first glance appear to be previously unlisted on the internet! So lets hop to it!
