In 1978, a number of locations across the North of England were used for filming the 1979 released movie Yanks, an early film for Richard Gere.

The film is about American troops arriving in their millions across the United Kingdom to support the nation during the Second World War.

Location footage was filmed across Keighley, Stalybridge, and even in Llandudno.

This video looks at just some of the locations today and how they have changed 45 years later.

Paramount Pictures had planned a television series based on the first film. Murphy turned down the series but was willing to do a sequel. Producers Simpson and Bruckheimer hired Tony Scott to direct due to his success with the 1986 blockbuster film Top Gun. The film was originally to be set and filmed in London and Paris; however, the script was re-written after Murphy expressed a reluctance to film outside the United States.

Eddie Murphy's salary to star in the movie was $8 million.The budget of the movie was $27 million. Ronny Cox was going to have more screen time in the film, but couldn't due to his role in Robocop. Filming began on November 10, 1986, and concluded on March 25, 1987, after 135 days of filming

This was probably one of the most complicated stories we've ever had to tell. For my Cypriots watching, I wish you peace and prosperity for the future. Between the hours of 1:30AM and 4:30AM on Saturday October 21st 2023, 40 year-old Samantha Woll was stabbed to death inside of her townhouse in Detroit, Michigan.

A neighbor discovered Sam lying on a walkway outside of her home later that morning where she had managed to crawl before succumbing to her injuries.

The investigation would find that at least one identifiable person had been outside of Sam’s townhouse that night. The question was whether they had found the killer or a reluctant witness...
