Built in Colonial Style in 1938, this mansion would soon be home to a dark secret. Firefighters were called to the home when an alarm was going off inside because of the lack of oxygen in the air. When crews arrived, they had to call the hazmat team to even go inside. What they found was haunting, over 115 accounts of animal abuse, and animals living in horrible conditions. The parents both went to prison, and the home was surrendered to the police, and shuttered. Their only child was left behind, only about 12. Her life stripped from her, as she learns the dark truth of her family. She grew up to become an animal rights activist. Today we are checking out Dirty Dancing filming locations at the Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke Virginia and in Lake Lure North Carolina. Mountain Lake Lodge served as Kellerman's Mountain house in the Dirty Dancing movie as well as a lot of other locations in the film. The lake dried up for many years, but the lake is back now! We also visit Lake Lure, NC, where additional scenes were filmed and where Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey stayed during filming. It was such a joy to visit the locations of one of the most iconic movies of our time, Dirty Dancing. I hope you enjoy coming along.
