how to tell someone's fortune:
- open the flaps (of the triangles, not the squares) and frite random
fortunes underneith the flaps
- Have someone pick one of the colors.
- Spell out the color and move the fortune teller in or out for each
letter. For example, if the person says "red," move the fortune
teller out for "r," in for "e," and out again for "d." Pause it in place
where it lands.
- Have the person look into the "mouth" of the fortune teller and
pick one of the four numbers that's visible. Let's say she picks 5.
Move the fortune teller in, then out, then in, then out, then in, for a
total of five moves. Pause the fortune teller in place where it
lands.
- Have the person look into the fortune teller and pick a new
number. This time, open the flap and read the fortune that goes
with that number.

Wax on, wax off. And welcome to the dojo. The Karate Kid dojo.
Beyond the Backlot kicks it in the San Fernando Valley for The Karate Kid (1984)! We jaunt about filming locations and relive some movie magic in the shoes of Daniel LaRusso.
This time, though, Curtis preps for the fight of his life. Chasing the sun. Crane kicking on the beach. Running from the Skeletore Army. Gaming montage at Golf N' Stuff. Training in the Cobra Kai Dojo. And interviewing actor Martin Kove - aka John Kreese, the Cobra Kai sensei! This episode has it all. Hop aboard the Beyond the Backlot bus as we revisit one of the most quintessential 80s movies of all time!
***
A personal note: We would like to thank Martin Kove for his participation. Also, we want to congratulate him and the entire The Karate Kid family on their success with Cobra Kai television series on Netflix!

What if your favorite movie could come back to life? It does in Beyond the Backlot.
As kids of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, we have fond memories of watching our favorite films over and over. Thanks to theaters and VHS tapes, these movies aren't just blockbusters from the past - they're part of our childhood.
Beyond the Backlot taps into our hunger for nostalgia by visiting the current day locations of our favorite films.
