I visited The Sandlot and all it's filming locations for the 30th Anniversary in Salt Lake City. I got to meet most of the cast, hit nearly every spot, and even got to explore and break down the rarely accessed Sandlot.

We'll also learn behind the scenes facts about one of the greatest childhood movies ever!

The Sandlot was filmed in and around Salt Lake City, Utah in 1992 and released in 1993. It was written and directed by David Mickey Evans and stars Tom Guiry, Mike Vitar, Patrick Renna, Marty York, Chauncey Leopardi, Grant Gelt, Brandom Adams, Shane Obedzinski, Victor DiMattia, Marley Shelton, James Earl Jones, Denis Leary, and Karen Allen.

Cities include Salt Lake City, American Fork, Ogden, and Midvale, Utah.

Band of Brothers Filming Locations Then and Now

Band of Brothers was a ground breaking mini-series from Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks released on HBO in 2001. Filming took place mostly in England during 2000 and one of the locations that features heavily in Episode 1 and 3 is the village of Hambleden in Buckinghamshire. Hambleden was used to represent the village of Albourne in Wiltshire, the wartime home of the Band of Brothers prior to their jump into the Netherlands for Operation Market Garden.

In this episode of WW2 Wayfinder, I travel to Hambleden and look at the locations used during the filming of Band of Brothers, and talk through some of the key scenes an travel around the area to find more notable locations used in the filming of Band of Brothers.

This is the second in my Then and Now series looking at filming locations for WW2 related films and series so I hope you enjoy this look at Band of Brothers and the filming locations!

'The Great Escape' was a film that I grew up with during my childhood, and to this day remains one of my favourites. Whilst not entirely historically accurate to the real-life escape the movie is based upon, it was (and still is) nonetheless regarded as one of the finest movies of the 1960s. The movie was shot in its entirety in Germany in 1962 at the Bavaria Film Studio in Munich, with location filming in rural Bavaria.

Hailing from a German family, my brother and I love all things to do with the country. And so after having to put it off for 3 years (thanks COVID), we finally flew out of London and landed in Munich in July 2022. Grabbing a hire car, we decided to spend one day venturing around southern Bavaria and went about seeking out some of the locations from the 1963 war blockbuster.

LOCATIONS
00:26 - Sedgewick cycling (Speiden, Bavaria)
00:42 - Hilts rides into town (Pfronten-WeiรŸbach, Bavaria)
00:58 - Hilts rides the backstreets (Pfronten-WeiรŸbach, Bavaria)
01:12 - Hilts takes cover behind a barn (Zell, Bavaria) *
01:26 - Cavendish hitches a lift in the truck (Speiden, Bavaria)
01:40 - Cavendish is caught by soldiers (Speiden, Bavaria)
01:54 - Hilts approaches the Swiss border (Pfronten, Bavaria)
02:10 - Hendley and Blythe fly though mountains (Neuschwanstein, Bavaria)
02:20 - Blythe crawls up the hill (Frauenried, Bavaria)
02:41 - German soldiers approach Blythe (Frauenried, Bavaria)
02:51 - French resistance car approaches cafe (Fรผssen, Bavaria)
03:03 - Bartlett runs across the rooftops (Fรผssen, Bavaria)
03:12 - Barlett is approached by a German patrol car (Fรผssen, Bavaria)
03:26 - Barlett takes a moment of reprieve (Fรผssen, Bavaria)
03:36 - Hilts jumps the barbed wire (RoรŸmoos, Bavaria)

* As mentioned in the video, the corner we filmed on is the opposite side the one McQueen was filmed on, as unfortunately there were maintenance vehicles in the way (they were working on a nearby pylon), however the barn is the same one in the film, still standing 60 years on.

I speak both English and German, please feel free to comment in either language.
Ich spreche sowohl Englisch als auch Deutsch. Bitte kommentieren.

For as long as I can remember I have been a fan of the Rocky movies. Growing up with a brother who was a very talented boxer and my father who was a boxing coach โ€“ the sport of boxing was always a part of my life growing up.

The rocky movies have inspired me and motivated me through the years through my personal fitness journey, and they have entertained me for many many decades.

When I made a trip to Philadelphia in the Spring of 2024, I set aside time to visit a few key sites from the Rocky movie franchise.

The Rocky House - Philadelphia - 0:47
The Rocky house, located at 1818 Tusculum Street in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, is an iconic symbol of the cityโ€™s rich cinematic history. Made famous by Sylvester Stalloneโ€™s portrayal of the fictional boxer Rocky Balboa in the โ€œRockyโ€ film series, the house has become a pilgrimage site for fans of the movies.

The house itself is a modest two-story brick rowhouse typical of the area, standing in stark contrast to the grandeur of other movie landmarks. However, its significance lies in its representation of the underdog spirit that Rocky embodies. Visitors come from all over the world to see the place where Rocky trained and to run up the steps of the nearby Philadelphia Museum of Art, just as he famously did in the films.

Mighty Micks Gym - Philadelphia - 0:32
Mighty Mickโ€™s Gym, another iconic location from the โ€œRockyโ€ film series, is a fictional boxing gym at 2147 N Front St, Philadelphia where Rocky Balboa trained under the tutelage of his trainer and mentor, Mickey Goldmill. While the gym itself is not a real location, its portrayal in the films has left a lasting impression on fans and has become a symbol of gritty, no-nonsense training.

In the films, Mighty Mickโ€™s Gym is depicted as a run-down, old-school boxing gym, reflecting the tough and gritty nature of the sport. Despite its humble appearance, the gym is where Rocky honed his skills and trained for his legendary fights, embodying the spirit of determination and hard work. The gym has become a symbol of the underdog mentality that Rocky represents, inspiring many to push beyond their limits and pursue their dreams.

The Rocky Statue - 0:01
The Rocky Statue, also known as the Rocky Balboa Statue, is an iconic bronze statue located at the base of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The statue was commissioned for the filming of โ€œRocky IIIโ€ in 1980 and was originally intended to be a temporary prop. However, due to its popularity with fans of the โ€œRockyโ€ film series, the statue was relocated several times before finding its permanent home at the museum.

The statue depicts the fictional boxer Rocky Balboa, played by Sylvester Stallone, in a triumphant pose with his arms raised in victory. The pose is inspired by a scene from the first โ€œRockyโ€ film, where Rocky runs up the steps of the museum as part of his training regimen. The statue has become a symbol of perseverance and determination, embodying the spirit of the underdog that Rocky represents.

Over the years, the Rocky Statue has become a popular tourist attraction and a symbol of Philadelphiaโ€™s spirit and resilience. It has been featured in numerous photographs, films, and television shows, further cementing its place in popular culture. Today, the statue stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the โ€œRockyโ€ film series and its impact on audiences around the world.

The Rocky Stairs - 0:59
The Rocky Steps, officially known as the โ€œArt Museum Steps,โ€ are a famous set of stairs located in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The steps gained worldwide fame after they were featured in the film โ€œRocky,โ€ where the titular character, Rocky Balboa, famously ran up them as part of his training regimen. The scene has since become one of the most iconic moments in cinematic history, with visitors from around the world flocking to the museum to recreate the run themselves.

The steps consist of a total of 72 stone steps, which lead up to the museumโ€™s main entrance. At the top of the steps, visitors are treated to a stunning view of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the Philadelphia skyline, making it a popular spot for tourists and locals alike. The steps have become a symbol of perseverance and determination, with many people using them as a personal fitness challenge or as a way to test their own limits.

In addition to their pop culture significance, the Rocky Steps have also become an important part of Philadelphiaโ€™s cultural heritage. The steps are a popular spot for events and gatherings, including fitness classes, races, and even marriage proposals. They have been featured in numerous films, television shows, and commercials, further cementing their place in popular culture. Today, the Rocky Steps continue to be a beloved landmark in Philadelphia, attracting visitors from around the world who come to pay homage to one of cinemaโ€™s most iconic moments.

#backtothefuture #filminglocations #movielocations

Todays Filming location adventure brings us to one of my absolute favorite movie or I should say movies of all time. Back to the Future is the pinnacle of movie making. A masterpiece that stands the tests of time... See what I did there. The original film released on July 3rd of 1985 and was the launch and conception of many peoples obsession with the dynamic duo of Doc Brown and Marty McFly. This journey has been taken by many but has been a lifelong dream of mine to step where these legends once stood. For this location video we travel all over southern California and even make a pit stop in Orlando Florida At Universal Studios. Sit back relax and enjoy some locations from Back to the future, Back to the Future Part II, and of course Back to the Future Part III

The following was taken from Wikipedia

Back to the Future is a 1985 American science fiction film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Zemeckis, and Bob Gale. It stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, and Thomas F. Wilson. Set in 1985, it follows Marty McFly (Fox), a teenager accidentally sent back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean automobile built by his eccentric scientist friend Emmett "Doc" Brown (Lloyd), where he inadvertently prevents his future parents from falling in love โ€“ threatening his own existence โ€“ and is forced to reconcile them and somehow get back to the future.

Gale and Zemeckis conceived the idea for Back to the Future in 1980. They were desperate for a successful film after numerous collaborative failures, but the project was rejected more than forty times by various studios because it was not considered raunchy enough to compete with the successful comedies of the era. A development deal was secured with Universal Pictures following Zemeckis's success directing Romancing the Stone (1984). Fox was the first choice to portray Marty but was unavailable; Eric Stoltz was cast instead. Shortly after principal photography began in November 1984, Zemeckis determined Stoltz was not right for the part and made the concessions necessary to hire Fox, including re-filming scenes already shot with Stoltz and adding $4 million to the budget. Back to the Future was filmed in and around California and on sets at Universal Studios, and concluded the following April.

After highly successful test screenings, the release date was brought forward to July 3, 1985, giving the film more time in theaters during the busiest period of the theatrical year. The change resulted in a rushed post-production schedule and some incomplete special effects. Back to the Future was a critical and commercial success, earning $381.1 million to become the highest-grossing film of 1985 worldwide. Critics praised the story, humorous elements, and the cast, particularly Fox, Lloyd, Thompson, and Glover. It received multiple award nominations and won an Academy Award, three Saturn Awards, and a Hugo Award. Its theme song, "The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis and the News, was also a success.

Back to the Future has since grown in esteem and is now considered by critics and audiences to be one of the greatest science-fiction films and among the best films ever made. In 2007, the United States Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry. The film was followed by two sequels, Back to the Future Part II (1989) and Back to the Future Part III (1990). Spurred by the film's dedicated fan following and effect on popular culture, Universal Studios launched a multimedia franchise, which now includes video games, theme park rides, an animated television series, and a stage musical. Its enduring popularity has prompted numerous books about its production, documentaries, and commercials.

Long-time collaborators Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis conceived Back to the Future in 1980.[9][10][11] They wanted to develop a film about time travel but struggled to create a satisfying narrative, and were desperate for a successful project after the critical or commercial failures of their recent efforts in collaboration with Zemeckis's mentor, Steven Spielberg.[9][10][11]

Following the release of their comedy Used Cars (1980), Gale visited his parents and came across his father's high school yearbook.[11][12] He wondered if he and his father would have been friends had they attended school together. He did not think so, but realized he could test his theory if he could travel back to a time when he and his parents were a similar age.[12] He shared the idea with Zemeckis, who recalled his mother's childhood stories were often contradictory.[11]

Gale and Zemeckis began a draft in late 1980. They sketched and acted out each scene to help develop the dialogue and actions.[12] They believed many time-travel films focused on the past being immutable and wanted to show the past being altered and the effect those changes would have on the future.

Going on a tour of one of my favorite movies, โ€œA View To A Killโ€, locations all found in San Francisco.

The locations visited on this tour are:
1) Fishermanโ€™s Wharf, a famous tourist site on the San Francisco waterfront, where James Bond makes contact with CIA agent Chuck Lee (David Yip).

2) The Transamerica Pyramid, where James Bond almost loses vital parts of his anatomy on the peakโ€™s antenna.

3) The San Francisco City Hall, where 007 escapes a fiery trap set by Zorin (Christopher Walken).

4) The corner of Davis and California streets, one of the locations along the firetruck chase route. The chase primarily took place in the financial district.

5) The Lefty Oโ€™Doul bridge, next to Oracle Park, also known as the 3rd street bridge. Itโ€™s where 007 jumps the raising bridge, leaving his police pursuers behind on the other side.

After 3 years of being Americans living in England and exploring all of what the United Kingdom has to offer, we have decided to make the ULTIMATE HARRY POTTER TRAVEL GUIDE. We are massive HP fans and have taken every opportunity we could to venture out and find all of the Wizarding World adventures that exist within our area. We decided to combine our love of the franchise with some of the videos we have made throughout our time here to hopefully help you plan your Harry Potter Travel Itinerary.

In this video, we cover all of the Harry Potter filming locations throughout the UK as well as some special events and places you can visit. We start things off in London where we run through a list of HP-inspired sites including Platform 9 3/4s at Kings Cross, the Warner Brother Studio Tour, and the Cursed Child.

From there we take things North, up to Edinburgh. While no filming was done there, this city is packed to the brim with Wizarding World gold. Whether you want to take a look at Tom Riddles's grave at Greyfriar's Kirkyard or see where the story all began at the Elephant House, Edinburgh has you covered. Scotland was also host to loads of beautiful film sites outside of the city, so if you're wanting to venture out, there is lots to see.

We wrap up by talking about all of the various spots you can visit throughout the whole of the UK. If you're timing is right you can hit up the Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience. But no matter the season, the countryside is brimming with amazing sites that will have you feeling like you're walking through Hogwarts yourself.

Harry Potter is something we are both extremely passionate about and really enjoy getting to do things like this! We have been so lucky to live in England and be able to jump on these opportunities. We really hope this helps you plan where you will be visiting when you make the trip across the pond!

Tell us, what Harry Potter-related events do you recommend we visit next? What would you like us to share? What did you think of the video? Leave a comment, like, and subscribe for more!!

Photos I took - combined with movie footage - at locations from the 1980 movie Somewhere In Time, which was filmed on Mackinaw Island. The movie stars Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. A majority of the film was filmed in and around The Grand Hotel.
