'The Great Escape' was a film that I grew up with during my childhood, and to this day remains one of my favourites. Whilst not entirely historically accurate to the real-life escape the movie is based upon, it was (and still is) nonetheless regarded as one of the finest movies of the 1960s. The movie was shot in its entirety in Germany in 1962 at the Bavaria Film Studio in Munich, with location filming in rural Bavaria.

Hailing from a German family, my brother and I love all things to do with the country. And so after having to put it off for 3 years (thanks COVID), we finally flew out of London and landed in Munich in July 2022. Grabbing a hire car, we decided to spend one day venturing around southern Bavaria and went about seeking out some of the locations from the 1963 war blockbuster.

LOCATIONS
00:26 - Sedgewick cycling (Speiden, Bavaria)
00:42 - Hilts rides into town (Pfronten-Weißbach, Bavaria)
00:58 - Hilts rides the backstreets (Pfronten-Weißbach, Bavaria)
01:12 - Hilts takes cover behind a barn (Zell, Bavaria) *
01:26 - Cavendish hitches a lift in the truck (Speiden, Bavaria)
01:40 - Cavendish is caught by soldiers (Speiden, Bavaria)
01:54 - Hilts approaches the Swiss border (Pfronten, Bavaria)
02:10 - Hendley and Blythe fly though mountains (Neuschwanstein, Bavaria)
02:20 - Blythe crawls up the hill (Frauenried, Bavaria)
02:41 - German soldiers approach Blythe (Frauenried, Bavaria)
02:51 - French resistance car approaches cafe (Füssen, Bavaria)
03:03 - Bartlett runs across the rooftops (Füssen, Bavaria)
03:12 - Barlett is approached by a German patrol car (Füssen, Bavaria)
03:26 - Barlett takes a moment of reprieve (Füssen, Bavaria)
03:36 - Hilts jumps the barbed wire (Roßmoos, Bavaria)

* As mentioned in the video, the corner we filmed on is the opposite side the one McQueen was filmed on, as unfortunately there were maintenance vehicles in the way (they were working on a nearby pylon), however the barn is the same one in the film, still standing 60 years on.

I speak both English and German, please feel free to comment in either language.
Ich spreche sowohl Englisch als auch Deutsch. Bitte kommentieren.

Going on a tour of one of my favorite movies, “A View To A Kill”, locations all found in San Francisco.

The locations visited on this tour are:
1) Fisherman’s Wharf, a famous tourist site on the San Francisco waterfront, where James Bond makes contact with CIA agent Chuck Lee (David Yip).

2) The Transamerica Pyramid, where James Bond almost loses vital parts of his anatomy on the peak’s antenna.

3) The San Francisco City Hall, where 007 escapes a fiery trap set by Zorin (Christopher Walken).

4) The corner of Davis and California streets, one of the locations along the firetruck chase route. The chase primarily took place in the financial district.

5) The Lefty O’Doul bridge, next to Oracle Park, also known as the 3rd street bridge. It’s where 007 jumps the raising bridge, leaving his police pursuers behind on the other side.

The reason for our visit as you probably already know is to check out and investigate the filming locations for the worlds first summer blockbuster. Jaws. Jaws is one of my personal favorites and has been on my to do list for quite some time. To say that this was a dream come true is and understatement.

Special thanks to My wife for recording the broadly walk in town as well as Codykilla and Dimitria for dealing with my movie location shenanigans

Jaws is a 1975 American thriller film directed by Steven Spielberg, based on the 1974 novel by Peter Benchley. In the film, a man-eating great white shark attacks beachgoers at a summer resort town, prompting police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) to hunt it with the help of a marine biologist (Richard Dreyfuss) and a professional shark hunter (Robert Shaw). Murray Hamilton plays the mayor, and Lorraine Gary portrays Brody's wife. The screenplay is credited to Benchley, who wrote the first drafts, and actor-writer Carl Gottlieb, who rewrote the script during principal photography.

Shot mostly on location on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, Jaws was the first major motion picture to be shot on the ocean, and consequently had a troubled production, going over budget and past schedule. As the art department's mechanical sharks often malfunctioned, Spielberg decided mostly to suggest the shark's presence, employing an ominous and minimalist theme created by composer John Williams to indicate its impending appearances. Spielberg and others have compared this suggestive approach to that of director Alfred Hitchcock. Universal Pictures' release of the film to over 450 screens was an exceptionally wide release for a major studio picture at the time, and it was accompanied by an extensive marketing campaign with a heavy emphasis on television spots and tie-in merchandise.

Jaws was the prototypical summer blockbuster, regarded as a watershed moment in motion picture history, and it won several awards for its music and editing. It was the highest-grossing film until the release of Star Wars in 1977. Both films were pivotal in establishing the modern Hollywood business model, which pursues high box-office returns from action and adventure films with simple high-concept premises, released during the summer in thousands of theaters and advertised heavily. Jaws was followed by three sequels (without the involvement of Spielberg or Benchley) and many imitative thrillers. In 2001, it was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

This video offers a then-and-now tour of what was the town of Woodsboro. Sonoma, Glen Ellen, Santa Rosa, Healdsburg and Tomales were the actual Northern California Cities that made up the fictitious movie land. See where the Wes Craven classic was made, and how it looks in its 25th anniversary year. The School, Police Station, Town Square, Riley House and infamous location for the End Scene 118 will be on display.

If you love the movie "Hoosiers" and have ever wondered where the movie was filmed or what locations were used, you've come to the right place!

I returned to Indiana and tracked down all the filming locations (including some deleted scenes) that were used to make the movie "Hoosiers." I also visited Milan, Indiana to see the roots of the actual Milan community that the Hickory Huskers were based on in the movie "Hoosiers," and to visit the Milan '54 Museum, which is loaded with history, memorabilia and some movie props.

I begin and end this video in Milan, Indiana but I visit and show all the filming locations in between, which were mostly in and around the greater Indianapolis, Indiana area. I also show some movie props that were used in the movie, and I included some interesting ties and places related to the movie in this video as well.

Some images and clips were used as "Fair Use" for educational purposes for this video.
