First published in December 1843, 'A Christmas Carol' is the most widely adapted of Charles Dickens' many works.

Stage productions of the festive tale began to appear within weeks of the novella's first appearance, whilst the first film version was shot in London's Muswell Hill way back in 1901.

In this video, we'll be looking at those early adaptations of A Christmas Carol- including Dickens' own, celebrated public readings- before moving on to look at a collection of locations used in various film versions: 'Scrooge' (Alistair Sim, 1951), 'A Christmas Carol' (George C. Scott, 1984) and 1999's 'A Christmas Carol' starring Patrick Stewart.

I'll even thrown in a bit of 'The Muppet Christmas Carol' (1992) for good measure as well!

Locations for THE CROW have always been difficult to nail down. You can really only find information about the fact that they filmed at Carolco Studios (now EUE/Screen Gems) and the abandoned Ideal Cement Factory. There was no way a film studio was going to let me on the lot to make a video and I knew the factory would be hard to access. Luckily, I got SOMETHING out of it. After we got home, I read a book about the making of THE CROW which revealed a few more practical locations, so I pieced together what I could for this video. Not our typical style when it comes to locations videos, but I hope you will find out something you didn't know!

THE CROW was shot in Wilmington, North Carolina. Most of the film was done on the backlot and soundstages of what was then called Carolco Studios.

A select handful of filming locations are getting special attention from fans during this time of year who recognize these houses and buildings from their favorite horror movies. Owner and Founder of Nightmarish Conjurings, Shannon McGrew, is an expert when it comes to tracking these locations. John Carpenter's 1978 film, 'Halloween,' starring Jamie Lee Curtis features two popular houses that can be found in Pasadena, CA. Michael Myers' childhood home in the film is officially recognized as a historically significant landmark despite being moved from its original location and repainted to take on a new appearance.
