From the Boer War through World War II, a soldier rises through the ranks in the British military.

Filming locations for Series 1 of the classic British sitcom 'Open All Hours'. Open All Hours ranked eighth in the 2004 Britain's Best Sitcom poll, and Series 1 aired in 1976, over 40 years ago now. This video shows the filming locations used in Series 1 around the Doncaster area. I've attempted to locate them as best I can, however where I cannot I have left the scenes in anyway in the hope that someone might recognise them or perhaps remember where filming took place!

Locations include Lister Avenue (the shop and Nurse Glady's house), various streets around Balby, Doncaster, several scenes around Elmfield Park as well as streets in the Town Centre.

I will be working on Series 2 shortly.

Delta House (BLDG #1): Serving as the backdrop for productions like "The Desperate Hours" (1955), "Lucas Tanner" (1974-75), "Delta House" (1979), and "The 'Burbs" (1989), this building has been a constant since 1950. In the "Desperate Housewives" world, it was home to Ida Greenberg, Karen McCluskey, and later, Mitzi Kinsky at 4347 Wisteria Lane.

Allison Home (BLDG #2): Present since 1946, this home has appeared in films and shows, including "So Goes My Love" (1946), "Harvey" (1950), "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" (1966), and "Mockingbird Lane" (2012). On "Desperate Housewives," Gabrielle and Carlos Solis reside at 4349 Wisteria Lane.

Munster Home (BLDG #3): Since 1946, this location has been featured in "So Goes My Love" (1946), "The Munsters" (1964-1966), and "The 'Burbs" (1989). On "Desperate Housewives" housed the Mullin family, Betty Applewhite, Alma Hodge, and the Hunter/McDermott family at 4351 Wisteria Lane.

The Klopek House (BLDG #8): It has existed since around 1999 and has been featured in "The 'Burbs" and "Providence. " It was the Van de Kamp/Hodge family home on "Desperate Housewives" at 4354 Wisteria Lane, and it has undergone modifications since "The 'Burbs."

Leave It To Beaver House (BLDG #9): Since 1996, it has appeared in "Leave it to Beaver" and "Why Him?." The Young, Shepherd, and Bolen families lived here on "Desperate Housewives" at 4352 Wisteria Lane.

Cromwell Home (BLDG #10): Featured in "One Desire," "Dragnet," "Adam-12," and "The Car," it was the home of Martha Huber, Felicia Tilman, Alex Cominis, and Andrew Van de Kamp on "Desperate Housewives" at 4350 Wisteria Lane.

Drew House (BLDG #11): Since 1977, it has been part of "The Nancy Drew Mysteries" and "The 'Burbs." Rose Kemper resided here on "Desperate Housewives" at 4346 Wisteria Lane.

Corner House (BLDG #12): Since 1936, it's been featured in "Three Smart Girls," "The Chase," and "Matlock." Mona Clarke used it on "Desperate Housewives" to secure the street at 4346 Wisteria Lane.

Seven Gables House (BLDG #13): This set, part of the Universal Studios since 1940 and featured in "The House of the Seven Gables," had unknown occupants on "Desperate Housewives" at 4344 Wisteria Lane.

Colonial Mansion (BLDG #1): This exquisite set piece, active from 1927 to 2005, graced productions such as "Uncle Tom's Cabin" (1927), "Written on the Wind" (1956), and "Casper" (1995). It was not visible in "Desperate Housewives" until the second season when it was removed to make way for the show’s development. Subsequently, the site was converted into a park, a vacant lot that has been part of the show since its second season in 2005.

Church (BLDG #2): From 1964 to 2005, this church endpiece of Colonial Street contributed its facade to "The Munsters" (1964), "Murder, She Wrote" (1984), and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1999). It disappeared by the show's second season to accommodate expansion plans, paving the way for Edie Britt’s home construction, which has been featured from 2005 onwards at 4362 Wisteria Lane, housing Edie Britt and later Renee Perry.

School and Store Facades (BLDGS #3, 4, 5, 6): These facades were part of the lot until their removal before the second season of "Desperate Housewives" due to the expansion, leaving their specific histories and contributions to film and TV unknown.

Bubble House (Location unspecified): Emerging in the storyline of "Desperate Housewives" during its second season, this house has added to the narrative depth of Wisteria Lane, with its first notable appearance involving an unnamed woman and later Mr. Scully up until 2015.

Originally as a spec script, the film was called Bill & Ted's Time Van. The core plot was similar, with Bill and Ted on the verge of failing their history class, ruining their plans to form a band. However, it deviated from the film version when they borrowed a van from their 28-year-old friend Rufus. While driving the van, they end up in Nazi Germany; and after some hijinks, bring Adolf Hitler back to present-day San Dimas before continuing to collect other historical figures. Solomon said this approach became problematic, and Hitler was switched out with Napoleon in their final script. Other ideas in the spec script that were dropped included more involvement of Bill and Ted's classmates, including having them time-travel with them; visiting Julius Caesar in the Roman Empire and ending up causing his death; and helping a prehistoric caveman invent fire so that they could light up a joint. The van, a 1969 Chevrolet, was abandoned as it was considered too similar to the DeLorean used in the Back to the Future trilogy. It was later replaced with a phone booth—which, contrary to common belief, was not intended as a reference to the TARDIS from the British sci-fi show Doctor Who. (Matheson said, "All of us were so clueless and knew nothing about Doctor Who.")  In earlier drafts of the script, other historical figures Bill and Ted plucked from history included Charlemagne (whom they referred to as "Charlie Mangay"), Babe Ruth, and a non-famous medieval person called John the Serf (who is nonetheless listed in the credits).

Visiting the movie theatre where Neville watched "Woodstock" and the Los Angeles Dept of Water and Power building where he took his morning jog. These locations are from the 1971 Charlton Heston movie, "The Omega Man". They are open to the public and easily accessible. In this video you will see some of the movie locations used for the 1984 coming-of-age classic. Starting with the apartment building Daniel and his mother move to in Reseda, Ca. This is also where Mr Miyagi had his office and saved his soon to be student from the Cobra Kai. Leo Carrillo Beach will be on display, where the beach bbq and first fight over Ali took place. The school will be up next, a place seen multiple times throughout the film. Then the Mills House located in Encino, Ca will be seen. I didn't get to all the locations for this one but I couldn't miss Golf N' Stuff, where they have their first date. The dojo will be seen briefly as well. This tour will wrap up with the All Valley Under 18 Tournament location, at Cal State University, Northridge. Stay tuned to the end of this video for a scene from The Karate Kid Part 2. During a Stephen King-themed filming location road trip in July 2020 through California and parts of Nevada, I photographed a few filming location sites of the 1990 film "Misery" starring Kathy Bates and James Caan. While driving near Truckee, California and Donner Lake, the Donner Pass Road was closed to traffic; so I was unable to get actual photographs of part of Paul Sheldon's snowy drive from the beginning of the movie. I did do lots of research online and searching Google Street View to find the right spots, so I included the street view photos.



There aren't many sites because a lot of production took place on sound stages at Hollywood Center Studios, which is now called Sunset Las Palmas Studios in Los Angeles. I included a photo from my trip to LA in February 2017.



I hope you enjoy the few sites I was able to match to the film. If anyone has an idea of where they filmed scenes of the Silver Creek Lodge and the library where Buster found article on Annie Wilkes, please comment below. I would like to find the rest of the locations if possible.

The order you see the film locations in the video is the same order we visited them with one exception. Bamburgh Castle was visited at the very end of our trip, but I wanted to tie it in with the other Wentworth Prison Location.

We are big fans of the show and made sure we hit up as many Outlander Filming Locations as we could on our second journey back to Scotland. We did even more research this time around in order to map out how we would hit all of these locations over 10 days while also visiting my wife’s cousin that lives in Edinburgh.

The Outsiders is a 1983 American coming-of-age crime drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The film is an adaptation of the 1967 novel of the same name by S. E. Hinton and was released on March 25, 1983, in the United States. Jo Ellen Misakian, a librarian at Lone Star Elementary School in Fresno, California, and her students were responsible for inspiring Coppola to make the film.
The film is noted for its cast of up-and-coming stars, including C. Thomas Howell (who garnered a Young Artist Award), Rob Lowe, in his feature film debut, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio, and Diane Lane. The film helped spark the Brat Pack genre of the 1980s. Dillon would also star in two more films based on Hinton novels: Tex (1982), with Estevez, and Coppola's Rumble Fish (1983), with Lane. Estevez wrote and starred in the Hinton adaptation That Was Then... This Is Now (1985).

The film received mostly positive reviews from critics, most notably for its performances, and performed well at the box office, grossing $33.7 million on a $10 million budget. Over the years, the film has earned a cult following and has spawned a 1990 sequel television series and a successful 2023 stage musical.

The film was shot on location in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Filming took place from March 29 to May 15, 1982. A newspaper used to show a story about the three greasers saving the kids in The Outsiders includes a real story from 1982 regarding the death of a man hit by a train in Boston. Coppola's craving for realism almost led to disaster during the church-burning scene. He pressed for "more fire", and the small, controlled blaze accidentally triggered a much larger, uncontrolled fire, which a downpour doused.

The original length of the film was two hours and 13 minutes. Warner Bros. felt that the film was a mistake and was too long. As a result, Coppola cut it down to 91 minutes for the theatrical release.

The pranks that went on during the filming have become legendary, mostly initiated by Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, and Patrick Swayze The targets were often C. Thomas Howell and Diane Lane. Ralph Macchio was not involved because he was so focused on getting his role right The author of the original novel, S. E. Hinton, was involved during the filming as she and Coppola wrote the screenplay together; she appears as a nurse during a hospital scene in the film She also later stated that she served as an informal "den mother" to many of the actors, as she was "close to all of them"
