So this time out I’m exploring some of the original locations that were used to film the 70’s trucking film Smokey and the Bandit. So almost 50 years has passed since the movie was originally filmed in the summer of ’76 in Georgia and some of the locations are showing their age including the fairgrounds and the Mulberry bridge. However, I was able to find some interesting artifacts that are still there.

Once again, my apologies that you must endure my goofy mug a few times, but as I've said before, I just put these videos together to share my little adventures with family and friends. But hey, if some fans get a kick out of them, all the better! There are a few REALLY great then and now videos related to Smokey on YouTube that have been produced by others. They capture exact angles and such whereas mine are more "run and gun." BUT I DO have the first internet shots of the Coors warehouse. IT WAS NOT TORN DOWN! The owners put a new front on the building, but the old place is lurking behind the new facade. Pretty exciting find for us Smokey fans! Side note, I was almost arrested on this adventure for trespassing on the old fairgrounds. Thank goodness the officer had a sense of humor! London has a long, rich history with the film industry, and over the years countless movie scenes have been shot in the city.
There are a number of film locations in London though which don't represent the city at all, being used instead to represent far flung war-zones, American cities and even distant, alien planets.... and in this video, I'd like to show five such places!

Straight Outta Compton is a 2015 American biographical drama film directed by F. Gary Gray, depicting the rise and fall of the gangsta rap group N.W.A and its members Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, and DJ Yella. The members of N.W.A were involved in the production of the film, including Ice Cube and Dr. Dre as producers, as was Eazy-E's widow, Tomica Woods-Wright, while MC Ren and DJ Yella served as creative consultants. Ice Cube is played by his real-life son, O'Shea Jackson Jr., with Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre and Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E. Paul Giamatti also stars as N.W.A's manager Jerry Heller.
Talks of an N.W.A biopic began in 2010 by New Line Cinema. Several directors were approached, including Craig Brewer, Peter Berg and John Singleton, before Gray was confirmed in April 2012. Much of the cast signed on in June 2014 and principal photography began that August, taking place around Los Angeles and Compton, California. The production faced several controversies, including casting call issues and several acts of violence on set.
Released on August 14, 2015, Straight Outta Compton made over $201 million on a production budget of $50 million, was chosen by National Board of Review as one of the top ten films of 2015 and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. It inspired Dr. Dre's third studio album, Compton, which debuted at no. 2 on the US Billboard 200 album chart a week prior to the film's release. The soundtrack album, featuring music by N.W.A, debuted at no. 1 on the Rap Albums chart and reached no. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Heller filed a lawsuit against the filmmakers, protesting his depiction and claiming that parts were taken from his autobiography without permission.
Straight Outta Compton was filmed in Compton, California and Los Angeles, California. Principal photography began on location in Compton on August 5, 2014. In early September 2014, principal exterior shooting on a large post-riot set was observed on Laurel Canyon Boulevard in North Hollywood.While shooting in California, the production spent $50 million in the state and received the California Film & Television Tax Credit.
