Beetlejuice is a 1988 American dark fantasy comedy horror film directed by Tim Burton from a screenplay by Michael McDowell and Warren Skaaren based on a story by McDowell and Larry Wilson. Beetlejuice was released in the United States on March 30, 1988, by Warner Bros. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing $75 million on a $15 million budget. It won the Academy Award for Best Makeup and three Saturn Awards: Best Horror Film, Best Makeup and Best Supporting Actress for Sylvia Sidney. A sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, had its theatrical release on September 6, 2024.

While the setting is the fictional village of Winter River, Connecticut, all outdoor scenes were filmed in East Corinth, a village in the town of Corinth, Vermont. Interiors were filmed at The Culver Studios in Culver City, California. Principal photography took place from March 11 to June 11, 1987.

Exterior filming for the sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice took place in East Corinth, Vermont (the location of the original movie's outdoor scenes), in mid-2023.

Filming resumed on November 16, 2023, in Melrose, Massachusetts, and wrapped in Vermont on November 30, 2023.

You’re about to see one of the most incredible abandoned mansions we’ve ever found. Originally built in 1988 with 12,000 square feet of living space right on the beach. This would be anyone’s typical dream home. In 2012 the mansion went up for sale and almost immediately after hitting the market it was sold for 5 million dollars to a family that came to America from Egypt. But just 6 months later a devastating hurricane slammed into the northeast causing substantial amounts of damage to the home and many other homes around. But that’s not why this mansion is abandoned. After the hurricane the family fixed the house and made it quote on quote “hurricane proof” and did many other upgrades bringing the property value to $7,000,000. But according to neighbors and anonymous sources. The family was doing some shady things to acquire their wealth. Quite honestly no one knew what these people even did to become so rich. Some say they were part of the mafia, some say it was drug lords, no one really knows who these people are. But one thing we did find inside of the home was foreclosure papers dating to 2014. Which makes sense being that there are 2 luxury cars left behind in the garage that have tags dated to 2014. People in the neighborhood say they were here one day and gone the next never to return. So let’s explore and try uncover exactly why this place is abandoned. So join me today and let’s see what’s left.

Located In Northern British Columbia, Kitsault is perhaps one of the best preserved modern day ghost towns.

It sits in a nearly perfect state of preservation with the power still on.

This area of northern British Columbia was long known for its rich mineral deposits.

In 1979 it was molybdenum (also known as 'Moly') that was in high demand.

Molybdenum is used in steel alloys to increase strength, hardness, electrical conductivity and resistance to corrosion and wear.

Between 1967 and 1972, a total of 10 million tons of molly had already been mined but the prices in the early 70s were trending down.

AMAX of Canada Ltd. purchased the site in 1973.

By around 1979 the Moly market was on the rise with news that many of the known deposits in western Canada and the United States were depleted.

In 1979 The mine was reopened and construction of the town started.

The plan was to make Kitsault a place that would attract workers to remote northern BC.

They would build a community that would house around 1,200 residents.

By 1980, the first families would start moving in.

Built was a community of around 100 single family homes and duplexes and seven apartment buildings with around 200 suites.

There was a modern hospital, mall, restaurants, bank, theatre, two recreation centres, a school and more.

Everything a modern 1980s community would want and need.

Just after families had settled in and the price of Moly collapsed due to the 1982 recession and the moly byproduct production from copper mines, the mine was closed.

The last residents were gone by 1983. Only 18 months of full operation to closure.

For the next 22 years the town sat vacant and untouched like a time capsule.

Caretakers were hired to maintain the town during this time.

In 2005 an American businessman bought the town and has spent millions in renovations keeping the town preserved with a vision for future development and projects.

Today most of the town still remains as it was from 1983.

6 year old Deshaun was one of 4 children living in the home with his parents Elizabeth Archibeque and Anthony Martinez. He was found deceased on March 2nd 2020 due to his parents refusing to give him food and using diet pills to curb her children's appetite. On top of that, he and his brother who was a year older than he was were being locked away in a closet for extended periods of time. Eventually detectives learned, the two young brothers were stealing food at night because they were so hungry and the treatment they were receiving was a tactic to stop them from doing that in the future.

Built in Colonial Style in 1938, this mansion would soon be home to a dark secret. Firefighters were called to the home when an alarm was going off inside because of the lack of oxygen in the air. When crews arrived, they had to call the hazmat team to even go inside. What they found was haunting, over 115 accounts of animal abuse, and animals living in horrible conditions. The parents both went to prison, and the home was surrendered to the police, and shuttered. Their only child was left behind, only about 12. Her life stripped from her, as she learns the dark truth of her family. She grew up to become an animal rights activist.
